We got great value for our money at this hostel. The room was comfortable and clean, with excellent en-suite facilities. The location was perfect, right on the NC500 route and with bike storage available. The staff, especially Marie, were friendly, cute, and accommodating.
The only thing that could have made the breakfast offerings better would be a wider variety of hot options.

I recently had an excellent experience staying at a hostel in the Highlands. The dorm room I stayed in was immaculate and had a convenient en-suite shower room. The beds were comfortable and the bedding kept me warm throughout the night. The common area was spacious and well-equipped, with comfortable couches, a dining table, and a fully stocked kitchen. The host, Marie, was friendly and knowledgeable about the local area. The location was perfect, being close to shops, pubs, restaurants, and beautiful walks nearby.
The lack of an oven in the kitchen.

Absolutely mind-blowing! Marie, the manager, went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and accommodated. The rooms and communal spaces were jaw-droppingly exceptional, exceeding the standards of many hotels and B&Bs. The bathrooms and showers were superb. The hostel's location, right on the NC500 route, with bike storage, was super convenient. We highly recommend this incredible hostel.

We stayed there during our trip to explore the fascinating archaeological sites and historic monuments in northern Sutherland and Caithness. It was so cool to see the remains of over 5000 years of human activity scattered around. Plus, the Emigrants' statue in Couper Park made the Highland Games in August super fun!
The only thing we wished for was a better nightlife scene for young party-goers. We had a blast during the day with all the activities in Helmsdale, like cycling, but it would've been epic to have more options for nighttime fun.

The hostel provided everything we needed for our stay, including essentials like tea, coffee, sugar, and milk. the kitchen was well-stocked with cooking utensils, plates, cutlery, and glasses, and there was plenty of space to cook and prepare meals. They even had little boxes for food items and labels to write our names. the coat drying room and separate shoe rack were convenient for wet days and muddy boots. the log fire in the communal area was a nice touch, and there were books and games available for entertainment. the rooms were clean and comfortable, with ample storage space for clothes. the host, Babs, was incredibly helpful and even assisted us with carrying our suitcases.
That the hostel did not have an oven in the kitchen, which limited our cooking options. the mention of an adorable collie might be a concern for those who are not comfortable around dogs.

The room we stayed in was clean and comfortable, with a spacious ensuite bathroom. The location of the hotel was perfect, with beautiful views of the surrounding area. One of the best aspects was the helpful and friendly staff, who were always available to assist us with any questions or requests we had.
There were occasional noise disturbances from other guests, which affected the peace and quiet of our romantic escape. Additionally, we would have preferred if the hotel had offered more amenities or activities for couples looking to relax and unwind together.
